Miss Universe to Lead Worldwide AIDS Memorial

Denise Quiñones August, the reigning Miss Universe 2001, will lead the 19th Annual International AIDS Candlelight Memorial in her native Puerto Rico on Sunday, May 19.

More than 1500 communities in 85 countries will participate in this global observance making it the largest memorial in history. Miss Universe is the official spokesperson of the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial, an event designed to remember those who have passed away due to AIDS and support those who are living with HIV/AIDS.

The Memorial provides an important opportunity for communities around the world to talk about tolerance and acceptance of individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
